The PetSafe Classic pet door is a 'self-framing' pet door that used to be known as 'Pet Eze' and has also been marketed under the names 'Greater Freedom' and 'Insta-Fit'.

The 'self-framing' adjustment range is very broad:  ¹/₁₆" - 2" making this pet door particularly suitable for installation in unusual situations like thin metal kick-panels or heavy mesh security grills.

The locking cover is  a 'composite' material that is extremely strong and insulates well. Sizes larger than small provide two separate spring-loaded dead-bolt locks for added security. The slot that the cover slides into over the flap is a patented  'J' shape to make kicking out from the outside virtually impossible.

The flap is one part which makes it more suitable for sharing by different sized animals as it is lighter than the old two-part Johnson. Two of these may be installed in a wall--one outside and one inside--for a 'double flap' wall-thru provided the wall is framed out first. Many other pet doors cannot be installed this way. 

We think the frame on the pet door looks pretty good as is. However, there's also a decorative frame that may be added to improve the looks. This plastic decorative frame comes in white paintable finish and is easy to install. It adds dimension to the metal pet door frame and, of course, is the easiest way to get just the right color to match your decor.
