Top tier status for the Hale Pet Door (formerly Hale Security Pet Door) refers to the two flap version of this pet door--one on the inside of the frame and one to the outside--with an approximate 1" dead air space between them (see "Number Flaps" column). Both flaps have magnets to stand up to wind and a brush-type weather stripping between the magnets. As a result, the Hale pet door stands up to wind much better than a single flap door will and the dead air space provides better insulation than a single flap pet door.

The locking cover is ³/₁₆"  Lexan (polycarbonate) with a steel dead-bolt to hold it in place. The locking cover normally installs straight down from above. If something is in the way (a door knob for example) you may order a 'side load option' at no extra charge (see "Replacement Flaps, Magnets, Side-Load Option and Locking Covers" at bottom right).

Self-framing adjustment range is 1"-2".  Framing is very heavy extruded aluminum.  A top rated pet door in the double flap version.  Use the single flap version in garage, basement or shed areas where maximum insulation value isn't critical. We frequently find that the wide array of sizes in this line can mean a better fit for the customers particular mix of pets.

A training benefit of the Hale Pet Door line is that the magnets may be removed from the frame using a flat-bladed screwdriver. The result is the flap is extremely easy to push by even the smallest pet--a training plus.  Likewise, and for the same reason, this would be the best high performance pet door to share between a very large dog and a small dog or cat.

All Hale pet doors come standard with "polar" flaps--a vinyl that is more flexible in cold weather than "regular" vinyl. Replacement flaps may be ordered here Hale Pet Door Replacement Flaps and Locking Covers.

Very flexible 'training' flaps may be ordered for pets who are initially resistant to pushing through the regular flaps.  These may be ordered at "Hale Replacement Flaps".
